Disappointed with
losing series against Pakistan but looking forward to rejoining Australian
squad for next tour: Australian all-rounder
Prominent Australian
all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is leaving the team to recover from a hip injury. In
a statement, the Australian Cricket Board said that Mitchell Marsh has been
released from the squad following an injury diagnosis and will not be available
for selection in the remaining three matches of the tour of Pakistan (two ODIs
and one T20).
Mitchell Marsh will
travel to India to join the Delhi Capitals squad, where former Australian and
current New South Wales physiotherapist Pat Farhart will join the team after
quarantine. The Australian team's medical staff considered it the most effective
way for Mitchell Marsh to recover quickly without interrupting his recovery.
Making a trip and
having the option to zero in on recuperation without isolation is the most
effective way. I am disappointed to have lost the series against Pakistan but
look forward to rejoining the Australian squad for my next tour," said
Marshall.
Earlier, former
Australian captain and senior batsman Steve Smith and fast bowler Ken
Richardson were also ruled out of the series due to fitness issues.
